EV charger installation in Doncaster & Sheffield

Charging at home is the whole point of owning an electric car: cheaper than public charging and ready every morning. Getting there takes a proper installation — a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit to a wall-mounted charge point, run and finished tidily.

We install home EV chargers across Doncaster and Sheffield, including Ohme units and the Tesla Wall Connector, mounted on external brick walls with the cable runs kept neat. The photos on this page are our installs, not a manufacturer's brochure.

What's included

A home charge point is a new dedicated circuit, and the install covers everything between the board and the wall:

Work carried out in line with applicable UK wiring regulations and good industry practice.

  • The charge point itself — supplied by us or by you — mounted where it suits your parking
  • A dedicated circuit from the consumer unit, with the protection the charger needs
  • External cable runs clipped and finished tidily, not draped
  • Commissioning and a quick walk-through of the charger before we leave
  • An Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion

Our process

EV installs follow the same shape as our other work:

  • A look at the job — photos of your consumer unit, the outside wall and the route between them are usually enough to quote from.
  • Fixed quote — charger included, or labour-only if you've already bought one, with the cable route agreed up front.
  • The work — most home installs are done in a day, with the power off only briefly.
  • Testing and paperwork — the new circuit is tested, and an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion.
  • Tidy-up — drilling dust gone, cable runs clipped, packaging taken away.

How pricing works

A handful of things drive the cost of a home charger install:

  • The charger you choose — units vary widely in price and features
  • Distance from the consumer unit to the charging position — cable is a real part of the cost
  • The cable route — a straight run along one wall is quicker than threading through the house
  • Groundwork, if any — crossing a path or driveway to reach a detached garage takes longer
  • The state of the consumer unit — older boards sometimes need work before a charger circuit can be added

Choosing your charger

We fit the charger you choose, and we're happy to advise on the options. The practical questions matter more than the badge: tethered (cable attached) or untethered (bring your own cable)? How long a cable do you need to reach the socket on the car, parked the way you actually park? Do you want scheduled charging to make the most of cheaper overnight rates?

We've installed Ohme units and the Tesla Wall Connector, wall-mounted on brick with tidy external runs — you can see them in the photos on this page. If a charger came bundled with the car, that's fine too: you supply the unit, we do the circuit and the install.

Frequently asked questions

Which chargers do you fit?

The one you choose — we've installed Ohme units and the Tesla Wall Connector, and we'll fit other makes too. If you haven't picked yet, tell us how you park and what tariff you're on and we'll talk through the options, whether you're in Doncaster or Barnsley.

How long does an EV charger installation take?

Most home installs are done in a day, often less. Longer runs — a detached garage across a driveway in Bentley, say — can take more, and the quote will say so up front rather than on the day.

Will my fuse board need upgrading first?

Sometimes. A charger is a significant new load, and older boards don't always have the space or the protection for it. We check as part of the quote, and if the board needs work we'll price it alongside — our consumer unit replacement page covers what that involves.

What paperwork do I get?

A charge point is a new dedicated circuit, so an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion. Keep it with the charger's manual — useful when you sell the house, and if the charger's maker ever asks who installed it.
