Lighting installation in Doncaster & Sheffield
Lighting changes how a house feels more than almost anything else you can spend money on, and it's usually less disruptive than people expect. We install and replace lighting across Doncaster and Sheffield — single fittings, whole rooms, downlights, dimmers, and outdoor and garden lighting.
Not every job turns out simple, and that's fine. As Eve put it in her review, when her lights proved more complicated than first thought, we cracked on and did the job — the same standard applies whether it's one pendant or a full re-light.
What's included
From a single fitting your ladder won't reach to a room-by-room lighting plan:
Work carried out in line with applicable UK wiring regulations and good industry practice.
- New fittings and replacements — including lights you've bought yourself
- Downlights, spotlights and LED strip lighting
- Dimmers and switching changes: two-way switching, pull cords, repositioned switches
- Bathroom lighting with the right rating for the zone
- Outdoor and garden lighting — wall lights, security lights, path and border lighting
Our process
Small lighting jobs don't need ceremony — describe the job, get a price, book it in. Bigger jobs get the full treatment:
- A look at the job — photos are often enough; a visit for anything structural or outdoors.
- Fixed quote — fittings included, or labour-only if you're supplying your own.
- The work — protection down, fittings up, switching tested from every position.
- Paperwork — where the job adds a new circuit, an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion.
- Tidy-up — packaging and old fittings taken away, unless you want to keep them.
How pricing works
What moves the price on a lighting job:
- The number of fittings, and whether wiring already exists or needs adding
- Ceiling type and access — stairwells, vaulted ceilings and solid concrete all take longer
- Switching changes — moving a switch costs more than reusing one
- Outdoor runs: cable routes, trenching for garden lighting, external fixings
- Who supplies the fittings — we're happy either way
Garden and outdoor lighting
Garden lighting is its own trade in miniature: outdoor-rated cable, weatherproof fittings and connections, and switching from inside the house. Done well it transforms how much you use the garden; done badly it's a tripping RCD every time it rains.
We install wall lights, security floodlights, path lighting and power for garden features across Doncaster and Sheffield. If you're planning landscaping, talk to us before the paving goes down — a duct laid at the right moment saves digging the garden up twice.

Frequently asked questions
Can you fit lights I've bought myself?
Yes — much of the lighting we install is customer-supplied. Buy what you love and we'll fit it. If a fitting isn't suitable for where you want it — a light without the right rating over a bath, say — we'll tell you before it goes up, not after.
Do new lights need a certificate?
A like-for-like swap doesn't. Where the job adds a new circuit — a garden lighting run, for example — an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion.
Can you sort flickering or buzzing lights?
Yes — that's fault finding, and it's often a dimmer and LED compatibility issue rather than anything sinister. We trace lighting faults across Doncaster, Bentley and Sheffield; see our fault finding page for how that works.
Do you do outside sockets as well as lights?
Yes — outdoor sockets and garden power usually make sense in the same visit as garden lighting. One trench, one job. Our sockets and extensions page covers power to sheds and garden offices.
