EICR remedial works across South Yorkshire

An unsatisfactory EICR isn't a disaster — it's a to-do list. Every C1, C2 and FI observation on the report is a specific, fixable item, and once they're put right and confirmed in writing, the report is satisfied.

We carry out remedial work across Doncaster, Sheffield and South Yorkshire from any electrician's report, not just our own. Send the report through the quote form and we'll come back with an itemised price — each observation costed on its own line, so you can see exactly what you're paying for and why.

What's included

Remedial work is whatever your report says it is — no more. Common observations we're asked to fix:

Work carried out in line with applicable UK wiring regulations and good industry practice.

  • Missing or inadequate RCD protection — often solved with a consumer unit upgrade
  • Earthing and bonding brought up to standard
  • Damaged accessories: cracked sockets, broken switches, loose fittings
  • Unsafe DIY additions and junction-box wiring put right
  • FI items investigated, then either cleared or costed

Our process

Most remedial jobs start with an email:

  • Send the report — attach it to the quote form or email it over; photos of anything obvious help too.
  • Itemised quote — every observation priced on its own line. If something's cheaper to fix than the report implies, we'll say so.
  • The work — grouped into as few visits as possible, which matters when tenants need notice.
  • Paperwork — written confirmation of what was done against each observation; where a new circuit is added, an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion.
  • Tidy-up — the property left as we found it, minus the defects.

How pricing works

The report itself drives the price:

  • How many observations there are, and what kind — a C3 tidy-up is a different job from a C2 board fault
  • Whether several items can be fixed in a single visit
  • Access — an occupied property needs tenant notice and a bit more planning
  • Materials — a like-for-like accessory swap versus a new consumer unit
  • Whether you want C3 recommendations done at the same time, while we're there anyway

Understanding the codes on your report

C1 — danger present. Something is an immediate risk and should be made safe straight away; the inspector will usually have dealt with the worst of it on the day.

C2 — potentially dangerous. Not an immediate emergency, but it must be fixed for the report to be satisfactory.

C3 — improvement recommended. Advice, not obligation. Worth doing when it's cheap to do alongside other work, but a report with only C3s is still satisfactory.

FI — further investigation required. The inspector found something they couldn't fully assess. It needs investigating and then either clearing or fixing — until then, the report can't be satisfactory.

Frequently asked questions

Can you work from another electrician's EICR?

Yes. A report is a report — we price from the observations regardless of who wrote them. Landlords and agents around Doncaster and Sheffield sometimes send us reports from testing firms that inspect but don't repair, and that's fine.

Do C3 observations have to be fixed?

No. C3 means improvement recommended — the report is still satisfactory with C3s on it. They're worth pricing while we're quoting the C2s, because doing them in the same visit is cheaper than coming back later, but the choice is yours.

How quickly can remedials be done?

For rented properties in England, C1 and C2 work is normally required within 28 days of the report, so we plan around that. Tell us your deadline when you send the report — especially if an agent in Rotherham or Barnsley is chasing you for the paperwork.

Will I get proof the work was done?

Yes — written confirmation of the work carried out against each observation, which is what your agent or local authority wants to see. Where a new circuit is added, an Electrical Installation Certificate is issued on completion.
